The helpURself programme does not operate in a vacuum. In order for the initiative to be truly effective it must have ownership at the local grass roots level. The projects that the programme engages with and supports must reflect community priorities. The helpURself initiative needs local community support not only in terms of active involvement by individuals and groups but also the feedback from the local community as a whole on the impact of the programme in the local neighbourhood.
